Discipleship is Vital to Church Health

Last week I wrote to you about what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. I told you that Jesus set the standard pretty high, and there needs to be a commitment on our part. Today, I want to talk to you about what the life of a disciple looks like. In Acts 2:42-47, we see what it looked like in the early church. They were committed to the teaching of God’s Word, community, and prayer. This is easily adapted to our lives today, but it takes a decision on our part. We have to choose to make discipleship a priority. When things come up that compete with our church commitment, we need to say no. Our faith has to supersede everything else. This has a short-term cost, but the fruit it yields is far more beneficial. This is why Jesus is always beckoning to us to follow Him.
