It’s the last weekend of August, and if your calendar’s anything like mine, it’s already filling up with fall’s version of a fresh start — new schedules, new routines, a clean slate. Romans 12 talks about a different kind of reset this week, and it doesn’t happen on a calendar at all.
Here’s something that might surprise you: when Paul writes “be transformed” in Romans 12:2, he uses the Greek word metamorphoo — the same root as “metamorphosis.” It’s the word used for a caterpillar becoming a butterfly, and for Jesus’s transfiguration on the mountain. Paul isn’t talking about a touch-up. He’s talking about something that changes you at the core. We’ll unpack what that actually looks like Sunday, and I’d love for you to be there.
