Pastor’s Update for 10/29

Last Sunday, as we studied Revelation 11, we saw two witnesses who testified and prophesied for 3 and 1/2 years. They were a torment to the world because they called out sin and told them what was coming. They are an example to us as Christians, because wherever we go, we take our witness of Jesus Christ with us. We are to testify of what Jesus has done for us and take a stand for righteousness. One way we do that is at the ballot box. When we vote for candidates and propositions that reflect Christian values, we take a stand for what the Bible says. It is both an act of stewardship and testifying of who Jesus is in your life. This next Tuesday is our election, and we have a duty to do our part in our community by voting. If the church would show up and vote according to Scripture, we would change our community and country. I did an interview with my friend Lance Ralston, who sheds further light on this issue

We are still going forward with our Trunk or Treat this Saturday. Rain is predicted, but reports vary. Some say the rain will start around 9 pm Saturday, while others say there will be a slight drizzle from 5 pm on. So if it is raining, we will cancel; if it isn’t, our dedicated team is committed to being there, so bring your family for a good time.

This year, our Christmas project is to start a food pantry for needy families in our church and community. We are asking for non-perishable items like canned goods, dry goods, and jarred items like peanut butter and jelly. We will gather them throughout November, and then at our Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday, November 22nd, we will put together ready-made bags. A flyer will appear in the bulletin a week from this Sunday listing all the desired items.

That’s it for now. See you this Sunday, when we look at Revelation 12.
