The first Thursday in June is always a significant day in the life of Lompoc. It is the last day of school, and hundreds of seniors are graduating from High School. It is especially significant for our family because our son Toby is graduating. We are excited for him and the rest of the seniors attending our church. We prayed for many of them last night at youth group. Their lives will radically change from what they have known their whole life. In the future, they will be challenged, and our church’s responsibility is to support and pray for them.
The end of school signifies the shift to our summer activities, and we have one of our busiest summers planned. It starts with our youth “Summer Kick Off” next Wednesday night. It’s going to be a night of games, food, and a spiritual challenge to follow Jesus. If you have a teen going into 7th- 12th grade, make sure to get them there. Our Summer Small Groups kick-off and we have five options for you. Click here to sign up. We also have our next Hope Sunday, which will happen on Sunday, June 29th. If you want to get baptized, this is the opportunity. Register here. Finally, we are planning for a couple of movie nights in our amphitheater during July. Dates are TBD, so stay tuned.
Finally, our VBS is a little over a week away, and soon, our church will be in full decoration mode. If you are one of the workers, make sure to be at the meeting on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. Our registrations are inching up each week. Pre-registering before VBS will help you check in quicker on the first day, so we encourage everyone to pre-register. You can do that by clicking here. For the rest of us not being involved, I ask that you lift this event in prayer. Pray that we reach young families with the Gospel of Jesus. Pray for our workers who put in a lot of time and energy. Pray that Jesus will be glorified.
