A week and a half ago, Jen and I sailed into the harbor of Malta. Malta is literally a tiny island out in the middle of the Mediterranean. I mention that because that is where the Apostle Paul shipwrecked on his way to Rome. This small island has a rich history of God’s work. The Templars pushed back the Ottoman Empire, and it played a heavy role in WWII. This place reminds us that we may feel lost and insignificant in this big world and think we have no role to play, but God thinks differently. Paul was shipwrecked here, but God used him to bring an entire tribe to the Lord. The Templars were 700 men against an army of 35,000, but God defeated the Ottoman Empire there. If your life feels shipwrecked and the odds are against you, God may be setting the stage to do something amazing through your life. Remain open and continue to trust the Lord.
This Sunday is our last Hope Sunday of the year. We’ll have an evangelistic service during both services, so this is a great time to invite your unsaved loved ones and join us for some really good BBQ. After the BBQ, we will hold our baptism service. This has been a powerful time as we hear how God has worked in people’s lives. You don’t want to miss this. Our fall ministry season is upon us. We have a small group study going on almost every night of the week. There is a new women’s study on Tuesday nights, and our Thursday morning women’s study starts today at 10 am in the sanctuary. That is on top of our Young Adults, Youth group, and Men’s studies. This is a great time to get involved if you haven’t. Our small groups are the main arm of our discipleship process.
