We have officially entered the Central Coast’s summer. Temperatures are rising, and they are only going to get higher next week. I love this time of year. It is unique to the rest of the country. My mind still recalls all the Saturdays spent on the soccer field watching our kids in perfect weather. Can’t beat the Central Coast. I also love this time of year because so many great events are happening at the church. We just completed our final Hope Sunday, where four people were baptized, helping us reach our goal of 25 baptisms for the year. That’s pretty remarkable considering we are only a church of 200 people. That means we baptized over ten percent of our congregation! That is something to rejoice about.
October also means that our Craft Fair and Trunk or Treat are happening. We have over 35 vendors for the craft fair on Saturday, October 10th. It’s happening from 10 AM to 2 PM. A great time to start your Christmas shopping. Our Trunk or Treat will be happening on Saturday, October 31st. Each year, it’s a great opportunity to reach our community. We need your help to make it special. We are looking for people to decorate their trunks and hand out candy, help with food and games, or just donate candy to the cause. If you are interested in being one of the trunks in our parking lot, please sign up here.
Finally, I want to offer you two resources to equip and encourage you in your faith. The first is a book by Charles Martin that I have been enjoying, called “What Is It’s True?” Martin is a New York Times bestselling author best known for his Murphy Shepherd series, and he writes this book to explore his faith more deeply. If you’re interested, you can click here. The second resource is my daily devotional, Daily Walk Devotion. These are short Scripture-based devotionals meant to equip and encourage you in your faith. You can read, watch, or listen to them five times a week. My hope is that these will encourage you in between Sundays.
That’s it for now. See you on Sunday as we look at Revelation 8.
