Every fall, during Jesus’ time, people celebrated. It marked the end of two grueling harvest seasons, and people gathered in Jerusalem for the Feast of Tabernacles. The hills around Jerusalem would be full of people sleeping in tents, and at night it looked like the hills were on fire with all of the campfires going. It celebrated the harvest and remembered how God cared for the people in the wilderness. As we enter this fall season, it is a time for us to celebrate as well. We are celebrating the harvest of souls (25 baptisms), God’s provision for our church, and so many people being discipled. Did you know that close to 40% of our church is in a small group or Bible study? That’s an amazing statistic and something to rejoice over because people are choosing to grow in their relationship with Jesus.
October is a busy month here at the chapel. This Saturday we have our annual Craft Fair. About 40 vendors will be selling their wares from 10 am to 2 pm. Please come out and support. All the money raised from this event will help our youth go to camp in February. Our Men’s Breakfast and Women’s Tea are postponed from this Saturday to next Saturday, October 17th, because of the craft fair. At the end of the month is our 4th annual Trunk or Treat. We need people to man their car trunks to hand out candy, and we need people to donate candy if they can attend in person. Last year we were inundated with people from the community and almost ran out of supplies. If you could donate a bag or two, that would be great.
Finally, you’re invited to two conferences in November. The first is a Women’s conference Nov 13-14th at the Bridge church in Santa Maria. Jennifer Musselwhite will be speaking, and ladies, you are invited to attend. The cost is $55, and space is limited, so sign up soon. Next, we have a Preach the Word conference in Downey, CA, on November 7th. David Guzik, Ermin Lutzer, and Ray Comfort will be speaking. If you’re interested, let Pastor Chuck know.
That’s it for now. We are in Revelation 9 on Sunday. See you then.
